Helping You Plan and Prosper

About Dolgin Law Group

Jay Dolgin started the Dolgin Law Group in 1984 as a way to get his clients better, faster and more economical results than they could get at the larger, institutional law firms. A more nimble, family-oriented approach provided Jay with an opportunity to get closer to his client’s needs and concerns, and deliver very personalized, smart solutions. Jay Dolgin’s approach is always about seeing estate planning, tax planning and more from a long term, high-return perspective.

Another strength of the Dolgin Law Group is our expertise in handling extraordinarily complex estate issues, or sticky inheritance and family matters that can sometimes take a toll on family relationships. Our sensitivity and understanding with these matters have yielded ideas and solutions that make these concerns work best for all.

Along with Jay and all our partners, the Dolgin Law Group stands ready to work with you, and help you plan, accomplish and prosper in all you need to do.

Jay Dolgin has practiced estate and tax planning and more for many years in Chicago and Florida. He has represented closely-held family businesses including professional business corporations including attorneys, accountants, architects, engineers, medical service corporations, manufacturing, distributing, restaurants, food distributors, professional service corporations, and retail.

Complex Family Tax Situations:

Jay has handled many complex family situations where children and parents/step-parents have adverse interests that were resolved without need of court intervention.

In addition to creative tax planning helping families transfer substantial value to their children at little or no gift tax cost, Jay has been especially successful in mediating complex family relationships pre- and post-death.

Jay has also successfully handled many estate tax audits but is particularly proud of having created the strategy wherein a decedent’s estate owned 50% of a closely held business having $37,000,000 in cash, was valued at $7,000,000 and settled with the IRS for $8,000,000 value.
